Making Turon π: A Hands-On Cooking Workshop
Celebrating Asian American Heritage Month
Friday, May 29
1:00pm - 3:00pm
Rio Vista Library
Meeting RoomCome create a favorite Filipino recipe - banana lumpia, also known as turon!
Join us at the Rio Vista Library as we celebrate Asian American Heritage Month with a sweet and interactive celebration of Filipino culture! This May, we're highlighting one of the Philippines' most beloved street foods: turon β a crispy, golden spring roll filled with caramelized banana (and sometimes jackfruit), commonly sold by street vendors and enjoyed as a snack or dessert.Β
Turon is more than just a tasty treat β it reflects the resourcefulness and creativity of Filipino cooking, blending indigenous ingredients with culinary influences from centuries of cultural exchange. Come prepared to roll some up yourself and enjoy making food with your neighbors of all backgrounds.
All supplies provided. Registration optional. Recommended for teens and up (kids with supervision are welcome).
